Here is a totally ridiculous Faygo ad from the early 70’s. I have no idea what any of this had to do with selling pop, but Faygo is still in business, so I guess they are doing something right.
Back In Spades was a band that was short-lived, but made a big impact around town. They were lead by a wicked 2 guitar attack from Stephen Palmer and Jackson Smith. The song that I am posting is called Detroit Slums (Here We Come), off the band’s 1 and only record, “Time Is Now”. I would love to see this band one day play again.
I Scream, You Scream…….
Charlie LeDuff has been writing for The Detroit News for a few months now and I feel his stories are must-reads. Leduff writes about the people and places around the city that make Detroit what it is, but most of us know nothing about. In todays story, he clues us in on the trials and tribulations of being in ice cream man in the city
The album “All Your Summer Songs” from the band Saturday Looks Good to Me came out in 2003 and became an instant favorite of mine. I can’t believe the record came out 5 years ago, but in that time I have never tired of of. As summer slowly comes to end, here is a song to help it keep going, it’s called “Meet Me By The Water”
Detroit Has A Skyline by Hi-Fi Handgrenades from the album Carry On. This song is a cover of Superchunk.
